Free music lessons will be given by Earl Lord of the H.J.Crosby Community Band. No instruments or previous experience required. Instruments and music will be supplied on loan for no charge. All ages are welcome. Classroom to be determined.

First session will be on Thursday, February 27 from 4 to 5:30 PM.

Please note that there will be no public supper this month. The next one will be held on Nov. 13, 2013.

The Monson Center will be hosting the Sundance-initiated FILM FORWARD starting Thursday, September 26 through Thursday, October 3, 2013. Filmmakers will be present for discussion at the October 2nd and 3rd showings. There will be a filmmaker reception on Thursday, October 3 at 5:30 PM.

FILM FORWARD is an international touring program designed to enhance greater cultural understanding, collaboration and dialogue around the globe by engaging audiences through the exhibition of films, workshops and conversations with filmmakers.

The final contradance of the year will be held this Saturday at the Finn Hall on Route 15 in Monson. The dances are easy to learn and all ages are welcome. Legendary caller Dudley Laufman will hold forth.

The dance is from 7:30 – 10:30pm
$8/person. Kids under 12 free.

The Monson Board of Selectmen would like to have input from the townspeople to see if there is any interest in looking into other school alternatives. If you are interested in sharing your comments, there will be a meeting at the Monson Center, Wednesday, August 21 at 6 PM before the selectmen’s regular meeting.
